Soprano Maria Callas expressing dignity before death while singing the title role of Bellini's "Norma" on stage at the Metropolitan Opera House. The legendary Maria Callas is merged in our collective memory with many of the roles she sang. When she sings, Callas becomes Norma, the Druid priestess, in a role she revived and sang on stage 89 times.
