Description:
This photograph appears on page 98 of the book, “Sinatra: An Intimate Portrait of a Very Good Year,” [published by Stewart, Tabori & Chang (A Company of La Martiniere Groupe); 2002] with photographs by John Dominis and text by Richard B. Stolley. Frank Sinatra famously shunned the press, yet at the height of his extraordinary career, the year he turned 50 in 1965, he gave John Dominis unprecedented access to his personal and professional life. The result is the only intimate portrait known of Ol’ Blue Eyes. While Dominis generated more than 4,000 images, only a few were used for the LIFE cover story; the reset remained in the magazine’s vaults. One hundred and fifty of the most revealing pictures from this archive, almost all unpublished in the magazine, were used in this book to create a deeply personal portrait of the man behind the icon.
